Assignment 2: Photographers
Glyn Davies:From a fine-art family and upbringing in Cornwall, Glyn followed a one-year Arts Foundation Course at the respected Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall, and then took a degree in Photography, Film and Television at Harrow in London. On completion in 1987, he started freelancing for magazine clients.
"After 30 years of shooting for commercial clients, I am now in a position where I can take pictures purely for myself, but the beauty about running my own gallery is that if customers like my images they buy them, if they don't like the work they leave! I love that simplicity of operation"
Assignment 1: Intro
(1) Camera- shot with a nikon d90,nikon d300 s, family cameras.
(2) Software - photoshop cs2, photoshop cs5, adobe light room - 4 years experience, grade 11 course.
(3) My interests are music and sports, play a couple instruments and spend alot of time on the mountain. i enjoy shooting snowboarding, landscape, and other action photos. creating snowboard sequences is something i like to do on PS.
(4) Going to TWU for buissness or Human kinetics, continue to be a hobby photographer. possibly graphic design?
(6) I would want to learn more about incorporating my photos into spreads, example like covers and other designs. Would like to put time into making a portfolio/booklet. Also Learning more about external lighting and different lighting effects would help with portraits.
(7) I work best in an individual environment but like learning in a group setting.
(8) some photographers whose work I enjoy and would like to base my style around are Chase Jarvis and Dave Lehl. Both award winning photographers who have different views of mountain photography.
